Bone Health
After a fall: could it be a fracture or only a sprain?
A fracture is more likely if pain is severe, the limb looks deformed, you cannot use it, or swelling and bruising appeared quickly. An X-ray is the usual way to know.

Sprains and breaks can look similar. If in doubt, get the limb examined and imaged rather than waiting for it to “settle”.
Inability to bear weight, deformity, an open wound, numbness, or pain that is worsening are reasons to be seen the same day.
Stable fractures may be protected in a cast or brace. Unstable or poorly aligned breaks may need fixation. Rehabilitation starts once the bone is protected.
If the limb is deformed, numb, open or you cannot use it, do not wait. Otherwise, same-day or next-day review is still wise.
